The city of Rock Hill is situated in York County in the northern region of South Carolina, USA. Located in the rolling foothills of the Piedmont, the city is spread over an area of 82.41 sq km and has a population of around 63,000.
Rock Hill has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 32°C. Winters are cold with temperatures ranging from 11°C to below 0°C.
Settled in 1852 at the site of a railroad depot and incorporated in 1892, the city was named after a nearby hill embedded with flint. Home to South Carolina’s only federally recognized Indian tribe the Catawba Indian, the city has tried to preserve its history and culture.
Winthrop University and York Technical College are the most popular landmarks of the city. Rock Hill has a beautiful landscape consisting of manicured gardens such as the Glencairn Garden and Cherry Park.
