Sheridan is located in the northern part of the state of Wyoming in the USA. This town with a population of approximately 15,800 inhabitants is the chief administration centre of Sheridan County.
Summers here are quite warm with the average maximum temperature at 29°C. January is the coldest month with the temperature often dropping below –12°C. Maximum rainfall is in the months of May and June.
Sheridan came up when ranching became popular in these parts. Rich landlords set up farmsteads here to rear and trade cattle. The building of the railroad brought in the mining and logging industry to this area.
The town is situated at the base of the Big Horn Mountains. The mountains and the forests attract visitors in large numbers. During winters, Sheridan is bursting with ski enthusiasts.
