The drill field, situated in the heart of the Virginia Tech Campus, is a large oval-shaped lush green area. Its name came from the period before 1964 when the students of Virginia Tech were required to take part in a military student group that used this place to practice marching and military drills. The drill field now provides a large space for the university grounds where students can unwind after and between classes.
