Camden, a part of the Metropolitan Statistical Area, is the county seat of Kershaw County, which is located in South Carolina in United States. The total area of the city comes up to 9.8 square miles of which 0.1 square miles is water and 9.6 square miles is land. In 1730, this oldest inland city became a part of the township plan, which was ordered by King George II. The city’s population reached about 6,682 as of the 2000 census, with 1,813 families and 2,874 households. Camden has a per capita income of about $23, 037 and about 16.9 %25 of the population and 13.1 %25 of the families were below the poverty line. Carolina Cup, which is held either on the first Saturday of April or the final Saturday in March, is an annual event that takes place in the city. The schools located in the Camden city includes Camden Military Academy, Jackson Elementary School, Pine Tree Hill elementary School, Camden Elementary School of the Creative Arts, Camden Middle School, Applied Technology Education Campus and Camden high School.
