Hilton Head Island is a shoe shaped island (commonly known as Hilton Head) and is a town situated in Beaufort County in South Carolina of United States of America. It is located 32 km to the north of Savannah and 153 km to the south of Charleston. The island also features a 19 km long beach on the coastal part of the Atlantic Ocean and is considered as a popular destination to enjoy the vacations. According to the 2000 census the population in the city was found to be around 33,862. The population of the town indicates that Hilton Head is a densely populated region in South Carolina. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town is supposed to have a total area of about 55.5 square miles, out of which 42.1 square miles is covered by land and only 13.4 square miles is under water. Thus 25%25 of the total area is under water hence maximum residents of the total population depend on fishing and water irrigation for their economy. The maximum temperature here is 32 degrees in the month of June whereas it drops to 3 degrees in the month of January. The average temperature in the day time remains around 19 degrees most of the year.
