Mount Pleasant is situated in Charleston County in South Carolina, USA. Located on the central coast of the state, the suburban town has an area of 128.3 sq km. It is bordered on the west by the Wando River and on the east by Sullivan’s Island and the Isle of Palms.
Mount Pleasant has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and are generally accompanied by thunderstorms. Summer temperatures range from 32°C to 23°C. Winters are short and mild with temperatures ranging from 3°C to 14°C.
Founded in 1680, Mount Pleasant is separated from Charleston by the Cooper River. It was a used as a summer retreat by wealthy residents of Charleston. Today, it has a population of around 60,000.
Even though Mount Pleasant is a small community, it has all the amenities of a big city. The mild climate, hospitable residents, serene landscape and cultural attractions of the city have fuelled its rapid growth.
