Swan Lake/Iris Gardens is a huge public garden which covers 150 acres and is known for its array of Kaempferi Iris and Japanese Irises. The garden is home to 8 species of swans and has a huge recreational area with playgrounds, tennis courts, snacks and walking trails.
The Iris festival is held here in the month of May and the park also holds the ‘Swan Lake Fantasy of Lights’ which is a huge light display which can be viewed by the public.
Shaw Air Force Base consist of fighter planes mainly F-16 Fighting Falcons which were once used in the Gulf War. The base is named in the honor of Ervin David Shaw who was the 1st American Lieutenant to fly combat missions in the 1st World War.
Sumter County Gallery of Art is a non profit institution of art and displays rotating shows of both contemporary and traditional styles by local, regional and international artists.
Sumter Little Theater is a community theater and operates under the regulation of a board of trustees.
