Winnsboro is a town in Fairfield County in South Carolina. This is the county seat of Fairfield County and part of the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. Richard Winn came to the present site of Winnsboro, and by early 1777, the settlement was known by the name, Winnsborough. The village, at that time, was laid out and chartered in 1785.
