Aberdeen is the seat of Brown County in South Dakota, USA. Located in the James River valley, the city covers an area of 33.7 sq km and has a population of around 30,000.
Settled in 1880 and incorporated in 1882, the city grew as a railroad junction. It later became an agricultural community that has now diversified into a manufacturing and service centre.
The climate in Aberdeen can get extreme with high winds and floods. Summers are hot with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 13°C. Winters are very cold and are accompanied by snow, with temperatures fluctuating between –5°C to –15°C.
Aberdeen does not disappoint when it comes to cultural and recreational activities. The Wylie Park Recreation Area and Storybook Land are great places where the entire family can enjoy. Its location in the fertile James River valley has given it abundant natural beauty which can be found in its parks and gardens.
