Elkton community museum was inaugurated in 1989, as part of Elkton’s South Dakota Centennial celebration. It has office bearers ranging from President, vice-president, and Museum Receptionist. The office bearers of the museum meet on 2nd Tuesday of February, May and November. The purpose of the museum is to collect and maintain the local history to be used as a resource for the community people. As the museum celebrates 125 years this year, there are special exhibits. They have also conducted school contests, genealogy help and special exhibits.
