Pierre, one of the oldest settlements, is the capital of South Dakota, United States. It is located on the steep banks of the Missouri River and is the county seat of the Hughes County.
Pierre was actively involved in the Second World War as well as the Korean War and Vietnam War. Numerous monuments and memorials stand testimony to the city’s eventful history.
