McGavock Confederate Cemetery is the largest privately held Confederate cemetery and has 1,500 soldiers buried over here during the casualties at the Battle of Franklin in the year 1864. In that year when this incident happened the residents of the city were shocked to see the dead bodies of these soldiers and they didn’t what to do. So this cemetery was create to pay respect to these men.
