The Nashville Tennessee Temple is a striking white marble structure that is the 84th operating house of worship for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Located at 1100 Gray Fox Lane, this edifice was erected in 1999 and has since become an iconic structure within this church. It was built next to a preexisting meetinghouse in Franklin, which is about 20 miles southwest of Nashville. The towering building covers 10,700 square feet and serves 13,000 Mormons in the Tennessee area. The exterior is constructed of Imperial Danby white marble and has a single spire upon which the angel Moroni stands gazing across the city. When the temple first opened, 25,000 people toured the building, giving non-Mormons a rare opportunity to view the inside of a Latter-Day Saints temple that they wouldn’t otherwise have. Inside the temple, visitors will find two vast ordinance rooms and two sealing rooms. To contact the temple, call 615-791-8668.
