Jonesborough is situated in the county seat of Washington County, Tennessee, US where the watershed of Nolichucky River and the watershed of Watauga River intersect. About 10 miles to the southwest of Jonesborough is the Nolichucky River and about 10 miles to the northeast of Jonesborough is the Watuaga River. The total area of the town is 4.3 square miles and this is entirely land. As per the 2000 census, the population of this town was 4,168.
