The city of Knoxville is surrounded by the Cumberland Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains. Located at the intersection point of the French Broad and Holston Rivers in Tennessee, USA, the city is spread over an area of 254.1 sq km and has a population of 180,000.

Knoxville has a temperate climate. Summers are warm and humid with an average temperature of 30°C. Winters are mild and brief with temperatures ranging from –1°C to 7°C. Spring and autumn turn the city into a colourful paradise.

Owing to its location on the Tennessee River, the city has served as a vital industrial port. Home to the University of Tennessee, the city is constantly buzzing with student activity.

The city has many cultural and historical attractions. The city hosts the annual Dogwood Arts Festival in spring. Local attractions in the city include the Knoxville Zoological Gardens, Ijams Nature Center and the Knoxville Zoo
