Beale Street is a world-famous street in downtown Memphis in Tennessee.
It is around 1.8 miles long and runs from the Mississippi River to East Street and holds a prominent place in African-American history.
The restaurants and blues clubs that line the street are some of the major tourist attractions of Memphis.
Outdoor concerts and festivals like Beale Street Music Festival draw a large crowd to its streets and surrounding areas.
The first ever club opened in 1983 and since then the street has turned into one of the most lively spots of the city.
The street has various clubs like B. B. Kings Blues Club, People’s Billiard Club; Cafe’s like King’s Palace Café, Blues Hall Coffee Shop; Bars like Superior Bar, Wet Willies; various food joints and shopping stores.
Today, Beale Street is the number 1 attraction for tourists in Tennessee state and provides the best example of a private-public partnership.
