Downtown Memphis is extremely rocky and colorful. It involves birth of novel kind of music, a major role in cotton industry, indulgement on the direct basis in Civil War, and ‘Civil Rights Movement’. Downtown has also been witness to loads of economic upswings and downswings. Durings its heydays, Downtown Memphis had been one of the vibrant centers with regards to commerce and shipping. It enjoys the pride of being the biggest port along banks of Mississippi river; that too, between New Orleans and Saint Louis. The present scenario is such that Downtown serves as a bustling business, entertainment, and residential center; in a way, a soul and heart of Memphis.
