Whenever you are traveling it would be safer to carry your credit cards, passport and other important documents in a separate pouch and keep them in a safe place as pickpockets are present at all places of tourist attractions which are crowded.
It would be wise to take preventive measures rather than regretting it later. Be careful while crossing roads or at intersections as there are cases where accidents have occurred due to speeding vehicles although the government takes ample measures to fine speeding vehicles.
Do not venture out late at night in lonely areas although the city is a friendly and safe place, it serves well to take precautions in advance.
During snow, sleet or freezing rain it would be advisable to stay off the roads as far as possible and avoid driving to nearby destinations like Nashville as the chances of road accidents are high at such times.
