About one mile from the western limit of the Alvin city is the Shimek Garden. Harvey and Nell shimek Erica Birds are the founders of the Shimek Garden. It is a national display garden for the American Hemerocallis society.The garden is one of the most reviving places for the people visiting the city. The garden has more than 850 different types of Daily Lilies with many different species of Rose and other flowers. The availability of different species of flower attracts many different species of birds making the place an excellent venue for watching birds.
