Austin’s State Capitol is the most prominent landmark in the city. The structure built in the pink Texas granite dominates most of downtown Austin. It serves as the seat of Texas government and occupies the chambers of the Texas state legislature and the Texas’s governor’s office. It is the largest state capitol building in U.S.A. but the second tallest capitol building next to the Louisiana State Capitol building which is taller by 142 feet.
