Lake Austin is a reservoir on the Colorado River in Austin. It was formed in the year 1939 by construction of Tom Miller Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority. The lake is considered as one of the seven Highland Lakes and is used for flood control, recreation and electrical power generation. Further, this lake is home to many species of fish which improve the utility of the reservoir for recreational fishing. Some of the fish present here are catfish, largemouth bass and sunfish. The lake is also one of the lakes in Texas Highland lakes which is infested with hydrilla, a nonnative aquatic plant species.
