South Austin is more specifically the area to the south of Austin and has no specific recognizable name apart from the hotels, institutions and museums it occupies. One such institution is the South Austin Gym conveniently located in the heart of South Austin and has served the Southern community for more than 26 years. The South Austin Museum of Popular Culture is another nonprofit organization dedicated towards collecting, preserving, and exhibiting art and memorabilia reflecting Austin's diverse contributions to pop-culture globally. South Austin is often viewed differently due to the different attitude of its residents, who often walk or ride bikes to work, have no AC in the house and are seemingly not much material driven.
