Dallas is the county seat of Dallas County in Texas, USA. Located on the Trinity River in north-central Texas, the city is spread over an area of 997 sq km and has a total population of around 1,215,000.
Dallas has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are accompanied by warm, dry winds with an average temperature of 33°C. Winters are mild with an average temperature of 13°C, although occasionally, temperatures might drop to –10°C in the night.
Founded in 1841 and incorporated as a city in 1856, Dallas has grown into a stylish metropolitan city, and a financial and industrial centre. Nicknamed as ‘Big D’, the city blends in high-society class with southern hospitality.
The White Rock Lake Park is an ideal place for hiking, fishing and bird-watching. The annual State Fair of Texas is a massive event that contributes significantly to the city’s economy. The city is also a big sports hub.
