The idea of Dallas Arboretum was conceived by Everette DeGolyer in 1930 and materialized in 1984 – the Parks were open to the Public. The Arboretum has a variety of plants which feature in beds throughout the gardens. The Gardens house the Hardy Fern Collection, the Holly Collection and the Azaleas Collection. Presently the Arboretum has a collection 2800 specimens of Azaleas alone.
