Tourist Guide Denton
The city of Denton is located in Denton County of Texas State in the United States. The city is the county seat of Denton County and hence it is a principal city. It is home to a couple of state universities namely, Texas Women's University and the University of North Texas.
The latter university is the largest in the whole of North Texas. The city and its county are named after the Captain of the Texas Militia, John B. Denton. He was also the pioneer of the city and a famous lawyer.
The Denton city is also called the 'Texas's Redbud Capital'. It has acquired the 58th position in the list of "100 Best Places to Live in America".
As per the 2006 census, the population of the city was 109,561 residents. Since the city lies in the eastern half of Texas, it experiences a humid subtropical weather condition. Due to such climate the summers are hot and humid.
The winters are mild and sometimes chilly. Denton regularly experiences thunderstorms and tornados.
