Located between two mountain ranges on the USA-Mexico border, the city of El Paso is situated in Texas, USA. It covers an area of 648.8 sq km and has a population of around 610,000.
El Paso has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and mild, dry winters. Summer temperatures range from 20°C to 36°C, while winter temperatures vary from –2°C to 13°C. Nicknamed ‘The Sun City’, it receives abundant sunlight throughout the year.
The city has a rich history which is evident in its historical sites like the Mission Trail, and the Hueco Tanks State Historical Park.
El Paso has a fusion of American and Mexican cultures and traditions; this is evident in its food, festivals, music and architecture. El Paso springs to life towards the end of summer with its fiestas and bazaars. The Yselta Mission Festival and the El Paso Downtown Festival are some of the festivals that attract a large number of tourists each year.
