The night life in Galveston is good, some good places around here are 21 on Post Office Street and Market St. Tavern which serves a wide variety of wines and a lot of beers, and a range of cigars to choose from.
Galveston County Historical Museum, Mardi Gras Museum, Railroad Museum, Texas Aviation Hall of Fame and Texas Sea Port Museum and Elissa, are very popular with the tourist visiting this place.
There are a few tourist towns around and they are very attractive as well, some of them being Houston which is 26 miles to the North West, Baytown around 33 miles to the North and Port Arthur around 66 miles in the North East.
If one is a Jazz lover then the place to be is Galveston as it hosts a very interesting 3 day Jazz Festival, Galveston Island Jazz Festival.
