Laredo is the county seat of Webb County in Texas, USA. Located on the north bank of the Rio Grande, and bordered by the Mexican Mountains to the west and the Coastal Plains to the east, the city covers an area of 206 sq km.
Laredo has dry, hot weather for most parts of the year. The temperature in summer ranges from 24°C to 37°C. Winters are cold, with temperatures ranging from 6°C to 19°C. The weather can get extreme with long heat spells, storms and tornadoes.
Founded in 1755, the city is one of the oldest border crossing points along the USA-Mexico border and is the country’s busiest inland port with a population of around 230,000.
Laredo hosts the month-long Washington’s Birthday Celebration which attracts many tourists each year. The Lake Casa Blanca International State Park is a great place for biking, skiing, boating and camping. Historical attractions include Fort McIntosh and the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum.
