Tourist Guide Lockhart
Lockhart is the county seat of Caldwell County in Texas, USA and is located near central Texas 30 miles southeast of Austin. Spread over an area of 11.3 square kilometers, the city is named after Byrd Lockhart an assistant surveyor and the first Anglo to set foot on Caldwell count. The city with a population of 13670 has a small town charm about it.
It is also proclaimed as the “Barbecue Capital of Texas” for the famous local style of barbecue cooking and the presence of several barbecue restaurants. Lockhart also boasts of historic homes that line the city’s entrance from the west. In addition there are historic landmarks like the Caldwell County Courthouse, the Eugene Clark library and the Caldwell County museum.
There are various recreation spots like the Lockhart State park which offer outdoor activities like biking, swimming and fishing. The city also hosts various cultural events like the July 4th celebration, Bicycle rodeo and Kidfish.
