The third courthouse to be built on the site, the Caldwell County Courthouse was built in 1884. The structure features high mansard roofs and a four way Seth Thomas clock and is built of Muldoon limestone. It is often called the most photographed courthouse in Texas.
The courthouse originally had electricity but no indoor plumbing. The renovation of the courthouse was completed in 2000.
