Longview city is situated in Harrison and Gregg Counties in US State of Texas. Most parts of the city is situated in Gregg County, of which it is the county seat. Only a small part of the city extends to the western part of the Harrison County. It was previously on the western outskirts of Earpville. After it was renamed as Longview, one square mile of this town was incorporated in 1871.
The winters are mild and the spring season has storms as a transition from winter to summer. The summers are hot. Fall starts in mid September and lasts till December. The city of Longview gets 46 inches of rainfall and 1 inches of snowfall each year. Overall sunny days are 211 days. July is warm with 95 degrees and January is cold with 36 degrees.
The population of the city as per the 2000 census was 73,345 and 2006 estimates placed the city population at 77,793. As of 2009, the population of Longview reached 76,816 people.
