Marshall town is situated in Harrison County in northeastern corner of Texas. This town is the county seat of Harrison County. This city is also referred as the cultural capital of East Texas and by such names. It was founded as the seat of Harrison County in 1841 and incorporated in 1843. By 1860, it was the fourth largest city in Texas and also the seat of the richest county.

This city is popular for holding one of the largest light festivals in United States like the Wonderland of Lights.
