Midland is the County seat of  Midland County. It lies on the Southern Plains in Texas States of the United States.

The city served as the midway point on the Pacific and Texas Railroad, between El Paso and Fort Worth in 1881. Later, it became famous for being the homeland of Laura Bush, The First Lady of the US. Midland city is also called the 'Tall City'.

The reason behind this term is the large number of tall buildings in the city. Currently, the tallest structure in the city is the building of the Bank of America, which is 101 meters high.

As per the 2006 census, the population of the city is 102,073 residents. The city experiences various climatic conditions, as it is located in different climate zones. However, the subtropical steppe weather affects the climate of the city. Most of the parts of the city have arid desert like conditions.
