Tourist Guide Plano
The city of Plano is largely situated in Collin County in Texas, USA. It covers an area of 185.5 sq km and has a total population of 255,000.
Plano enjoys a temperate climate. Summers are hot with an average temperature of 30°C. Winters are mild with an average temperature of 6°C.
Plano was named so, in reference to its flat topography. Officially incorporated in 1873, the city grew after the completion of the Houston and Texas Railroad. The city’s history is preserved in the museums, especially the JC Penney Museum.
Even though Plano is primarily an agricultural community, many multinational companies have set up their base in the city.
Plano is renowned for its golf courses, attractions and shopping opportunities. The ‘Hot Air Balloon Capital of Texas’ hosts the annual three-day Balloon Festival, which attracts many visitors at the end of September. The city was designated an ‘All-America City’ in 1994.
