Tourist Guide The Woodlands
The Woodlands is a census designated place and a large master planned community of Montgomery County in Texas. It is within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. This CDP was founded by George P Mitchell in the year 1974.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 23.9 square miles, out of which 23.4 square miles is land and 0.5 square miles is water. This CDP development is located in a heavily forested area and most of the community has retained trees for decoration and shade. The terrain is of small rolling hills.
The population as per the 2000 census was 55,649 people. It has almost 90.5 percent increase from 1990 estimates. As of 2006, it was 84,418 people. In 2009, the population reached 75,818 people.
The Woodlands gets 45 inches of rainfall and 203 sunny days each year. The number of measurable precipitation is 78 days. July is high with 95 degrees and January is low with 39 degrees.
