Weatherford city is situated in Parker County in Texas. A county seat of Parker County, it is a part of the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex. This city was named by the Texas Legislature as the Peach capital of Texas due to the production of peaches here.
Its first settlers were Native Americans who attacked the area from 1846 to 1874.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.7 square miles, out of which, 20.9 square miles is land and 1.8 square miles is water.
The population as per the 2000 census was 19,000. At present, the population has reached 24,000.
The Peach is celebrated per year at the Parker County Peach Festival. This event is the largest and one of the best attended festivals in Texas.
