Arches National Park: Attractions and more...
One of the most famous arches in the national park is the Delicate Arch which gained international recognition when the 2002 Winter Olympics torch relay passed under it. The arch also offers a spectacular view from its edge.
The big rock atop the impressive Balanced Rock is the size of three buses and yet manages to balance itself. Other famous formations include the Double Arch (a close-set pair of arches), the Dark Angel (a monolith of dark stone), the Courthouse Towers (a tight group of towering stone columns), the Landscape Arch (considered to be the longest natural arch in the world) and the Fiery Furnace (a maze of passages in between columns of rock).
The Devil’s Garden is a must see. Formed as a result of rock broken out of the earth, it has a compound, an amphitheatre, the Fin Canyon and a trail that leads you to many of the attractions in the park, including the colourful Petrified Dunes (ancient sand dunes which have been hardened into rock).
