The depot was built by Oregon short line company for the reason of railroad access. It was opened on May 19, 1907 to the public. At first it was used for the transfer of large shipments of coal from helper. The rail use was increased during the World War II, as the wounded servicemen were carried to the city’s Bushnell military hospital. The depot was given to the golden spike association of Box Elder County and it was restored as an Educational Center for the railroad history.
