Tourist Guide Cedar City

Cedar City is situated in Iron County in Utah, USA. Located on the edge of a flat rangeland next to the forested highland of the Markagunt Plateau, the city covers an area of 52 sq km.

Due to its elevation, Cedar City has a cool, dry climate. The average summer temperature is 22°C, while the average winter temperature is 10°C.

Founded in 1851, Cedar City has grown into a cultured city, with a population of around 24,000, with emphasis on education and art. It is home to the Utah Shakespearean Festival, the Utah Summer Games and the Southern Utah University.

Due to its proximity to the state’s parks, Cedar City is known as the gateway to Utah’s national parks. In summer, the plateau offers hiking, horseback riding, biking and fishing. The city acts as a base for exploring the plateau. In winter, the snow-covered rocky landscape of southern Utah makes Brian Head Resort a great ski destination.
