Tourist Guide Green River
The city of Green River is partially located in Emery County and partially in Grand County in Utah, USA. It is located on the western banks of the Green River after which the city is named and is spread over an area of 32.7 sq km.
The city enjoys a moderate climate. The average summer temperature is 24°C, while the average winter temperature is –1°C. Spring and fall are mild and comfortable.
Settled in 1878, the city started as a river crossing for the US Mail. Although the area was predominantly agricultural with several farms, the city, with a population of around 900, has a grown with tourism as its principal industry.
The city is surrounded by wilderness which makes it a great place for hiking, biking and other activities. The river, along with the Green River State Park, offers visitors with a quiet atmosphere and is the biggest attraction of the city. The John Wesley Powell River History Museum is also a popular attraction.Explore map
