Tourist Guide Layton

The city of Layton is situated in Davis County in Utah, USA. Bordered by the Wasatch Mountains to the east and the Great Salt Lake to the west, the city covers an area of 54 sq km and has a population of around 68,000.

Established in 1850 as an agricultural community, the settlement was formerly known as Kaysville. It was later renamed Layton after Christopher Layton, a Mormon colonizer and property owner in Kaysville.

Layton’s climate is characterized with long, hot summers and cold, snowy winters. Summer temperatures range from 32°C to 17°C, while winter temperatures range from 3°C to –6°C. The Great Salt Lake brings in most of the moisture in spring.

The rocky topography of the city coupled with its climate has transformed the city into a popular tourist destination. Its landscape consists of rugged areas and flat plains which are conducive to outdoor activities. It also has easy access to the Antelope Island State Park
