Tourist Guide Panguitch

Surrounded by majestic mountains, Panguitch is situated in Garfield County in Utah, USA. The city covers an area of 3.5 sq km and has a population of over 2,000.

The climate in Panguitch is severe. Summer can be scorching with an average temperature of 22°C. In winter, the temperatures fall below freezing point to an average of –6°C.

First settled by Mormon Pioneers in 1864, the city gets its name from the Paiute Indian word for ‘Big Fish’. The annual Quilt Walking Festival is held to commemorate the event in 1864 when seven men trudged over the mountains to obtain flour for the starving residents using quilts to support themselves.

The city is blessed with a large number of scenic attractions. Located in the fertile Panguitch Plateau, the city offers a scenic view of the Aquarius Plateau and is a gateway to the numerous parks and monuments, especially the Bryce Canyon National Park. The Panguitch Lake is also a major attraction.
