Parowan can be described as a city as well as county seat with respect to ‘Iron County, Utah, US’.

Parowan enjoys the pride of being the 1st incorporated city all over Iron County. This happened in the year 1851. Parowan used to serve as ‘agricultural support base’ for localized iron industry; blast furnace of whose had been located in Cedar City. However, ironworks got decommissioned with the passage of time.

In spite of occasional successes, mission to manufacture sustained and consistent supply pertaining to pig iron failed. By the year 1858, majority of mining operations of the area ceased owing to disappointing yields. At present, chief industries of this region are tourism and recreation.

Parowan goes on to blend present-day with rich ‘historical’ past.

As per US Census Bureau, total area of Parowan is 15.1 sq. Km (all land). Summer season would prove to be the best period to pay a visit.

Population according to 2000 census was reported to be 2565.
