Tourist Guide Zion National Park
Zion National Park is located in south-western Utah, USA. It is spread over the counties of Washington, Iron and Kane and is 480 km south of Salt Lake City. Las Vegas lies around 250 km away. The closest town to the park is Springdale. Visitors can fly into the region using the St George Municipal Airport and the Cedar City Regional Airport.
A major feature of the landscape is the 800-m high Zion Canyon, which is located at the crossroads of the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin and the Colorado Plateau.
The park experiences hot summers, with temperatures ranging between 35°C to 43°C; winters can be mild depending on the elevation of the region.
Zion National Park receives three million visitors every year. It is Utah’s oldest national Park. Traces of the area’s nomadic Basketmaker Anasazi tribe can still be found in some parts.
