Zion National Park : Attractions and more...
The photogenic Horse Ranch Mountain, at 2600 m, is the highest point in Zion. Also worth a drive through is the Zion–Mount Carmel Tunnel which has six big ‘windows’ cut into the immense sandstone cliff. At the end of the road into Zion Canyon, one can find the Temple of Sinawava, after which there is a short trail leading to the spectacular gorge called Zion Narrows.
The world’s canyoneers are attracted to Zion because of its slot canyons. The Narrows, Lava Point and the Subway are popular spots which also have breathtaking views. Kolob Arch (one of the world’s longest arches) can be found at the Kolob Canyons section near Cedar City.
Also visit the nearby town of Springdale which has attractions like OC Tanner Amphitheatre (hosting summer performances by Ballet West) and the Zion Canyon IMAX (where you can watch interesting Zion Canyon documentaries on a six-storey high screen).
