Tourist Guide Brattleboro
Brattleboro is situated in Windham County in Vermont, USA. Located between the West and Connecticut rivers, the town covers an area of 84 sq km and has a population of around 17,000.
Brattleboro began with the founding of Fort Drummer, the first permanent English settlement in Vermont, in 1724. Chartered in 1753, the town grew as an industrial and commercial centre.
Summers are warm with temperatures ranging from 27°C to 14°C. Winters are accompanied by snowfall with temperatures dropping to –10°C.
The mountainous terrain of the town provides several outdoor recreational opportunities. In warmer months, hiking, canoeing, biking and horseback riding are popular activities. In winter, the snow-covered mountain hills facilitate skiing and snowmobiling. Brattleboro houses a number of art galleries and stores including Vermont Artisan Design, the largest store of original artworks in the area.
