The Vermont Ski Museum was founded by Roy Newton in 1988 in Brandon, Vermont. The intention was to gather and exhibit a large collection of skiing memorabilia and historical artifacts and thereby arrange a 100 year history of skiing. In 2000, this museum shifted to Stowe. The reason was that Stowe was easily accessible to the public and would serve as an year-round attraction in the region.
