Saint Johnsbury city is located in Caledonia County in the Vermont state, United States of America. The city is located 40 miles south of the Canadian border and 10 miles northwest of the Connecticut River.Geographically it is located at 44º25' North and 72º01' west. As per the United States Census Bureau the city has an area of 36.85 square miles (95.44 km²) out of which 0.1 square miles (0.1km²) is water and the rest is land. The town rises about 614 ft from the sea level.The city had a population of 7,571 in the year 2000 and 1,917 families were residing in the city. The density of the population was 206.4 people per square mile (79.7/km²). The total housing units were 3,482 at an average density of 94.49/sq mi (36.5/km²).The Annual First Night community celebration for New Year is the main celebration of the city since 1993. The city also contains 12 places on the list of the National Registry of historic Places.
