Carlyle House had been completed in the year 1753 by John Caryle, a merchant of British origin; especially for Sarah Fairfax, his lovely bride. She had been one of the members of the most well-to-do families within colonial Virginia. Carlyle House finds its name in National register of Historic Places as the sole stone, eighteenth-century Palladian-style home. Special events, lectures, exhibits, and programs for school-going children are organized at regular time intervals.
