Bluefield is a town which is situated in Tazewell County in Virginia and is along the Bluestone River. The population, as of 2000 census was 5,078. Further, it is also a part of the Bluefield WV-VA micropolitan area. This town has a total area of 7.6 square miles, all of which is land.
The name Bluefield is derived from a species of Chicory that has a dark blue flower and these plants grow in abundance in Bluefield. This town dates back to the early 1860s when a post office opened having name of Pin Hook. At first, it was named as Graham, but the name changed to Bluefield and became official in 1924.
